Started by Peter Wendeln in Bönen (North Rhine-Westphalia) in 2003, Wback is a leading provider of hamburger and hot dog buns for clients from the quick restaurant, food retail and food service industries. Production began in 2004 after completing a new production facility. Following fast growth, capacity was doubled by opening a new plant in Leipheim (Bavaria) in 2007. Facilities representing the „state of the art“ and top quality standards form the basis for strategic partnerships with key clients from all market segments in Germany and neighboring European countries.
Halder’s MBO in 2013 completed management and ownership succession for Peter Wendeln. Further substantial expansion of capacity, investment in packaging capability and the addition of intermediate storage have generated good growth with existing and new clients: Since Halder’s entry, the company has doubled sales revenues. In early 2019, Wback was sold to C.H. Guenther & Sons, a US-based, global provider of food products seeking to broaden its product range and European market position.
